New Opportunity for Russian Adoptions
Typically, our international fee for adoption of each child age 0-4 is $14,000, and for each child age 5-9 is $10,000. With this new initiative to find families for siblings, one international fee of $16,000 covers a sibling group of 2 or 3 children. We are doing this to give every opportunity to harder to place siblings, as well as to benefit the families that would consider adopting them. Sibling groups will range in ages from 10-11 months old to 14 years old, but will usually include at least one sibling age 5 or older. These available siblings will be children of different ages. A sibling set could be one child who is 2-3-4 years old and another child who is 5-6-7 years old, or it can be one child who is 12 months old but the sibling is a 7-8 year old. Unfortunately, sibling groups of only younger children are rare and usually are being adopted by Russian families. Typically, one child will be over the age of 5 years old. Siblings will be available for families who are document ready for these regions, as they are not available for long once they come off the Russia database. In addition, we will not have information on siblings in advance, as Russia does not allow photo listings of available children. Only after families submit the required documents are children offered. The wait time for sibling referrals should be much shorter than the wait for a younger child. Christian World Adoption is committed to finding families for children that might be harder to place, typically older children and siblings. Therefore, we have worked to negotiate a discounted international fee for sibling adoptions from Russia. We have the opportunity to place sibling groups from two regions in Russia, Nizhniy Novgorod and Pskov. Siblings groups apparently become available quite frequently in these two regions.
