Graves family adoption story

A little over eight years ago, we brought home our son, Jack, from Guatemala. Wow! He’s almost nine years old now. In four years he’ll be a teenager...yikes! Where has the time gone? What a blessing our adoption journey has been!

We began the process with CWA in 2000, when we realized that adoption was where God was leading us. Little did we know the plans He had for us. The paperwork stage was daunting, but once we got Jack’s referral, the real challenge began – waiting to travel. It would be another 7 months. We were encouraged by the words of others: “You’ll forget all about the waiting once you have your child.” And those words are so true, even though it was hard to believe it at the time.

We got the call from CWA early in the week that all was set for our travel on Friday, September 7, 2001, to Guatemala City. What a week of anticipation and preparation to see our son for the first time. The flight to Guatemala was easy with no delays or problems. After being in our room at the Princess Hotel for 45 minutes, our lives changed forever with the knock on the door. Our precious son was finally in our arms. It was such a joyful weekend getting to know 8-and-a-half month old Jack. He smiled every time we brought out the camera. We were new parents in a foreign country, enjoying the beautiful country of Guatemala and being together as a family... Read More »

New foster home for girls

The CWA staff in Ethiopia has been hard at work preparing a beautiful foster home for girls. Adoptions in Ethiopia are finalized in court prior to the family traveling to bring their children home. This foster home will provide a place for girls to stay between their court hearing and the time their forever families come to bring them home to the United States. Aster Hiruye, CWAE staff member describes this home as, “bright and airy.” What a beautiful, cheerful place for these precious girls to stay! This is just another exciting way that God is working in the country of Ethiopia.

Hope Project update

Hope has become a reality for over 60 children from the China Hope Project. Many of these children are already home with their forever families. There are still boys and girls of all ages waiting, with, and without, special needs. You can see their precious faces, watch video, and read about them by requesting access to our password-protected site. The Hope Project is a unique opportunity to choose your child from China. Our hope and prayer is that each child will be placed into a loving family of their own. Also, we anticipate in the first quarter of 2010 that more children will be added to the Hope Project »

Care4Kids holiday project

Christian World Foundation (CWF) has launched a new holiday project called Care4Kids. CWF anticipates that children will begin to occupy the Children's Home at Acacia Village in late spring or early summer of 2010. CWF wants to provide a celebration and warm welcome to the children who come to Acacia Village. Part of that welcoming event will be to purchase toys, clothing, toiletries, and medical supplies, have them in place and ready to be used. The goal is to raise $25,000 by January 30, 2010. Go to the Care4Kids website to learn more and to make a donate.
