I don’t usually post two blogs in one day. I usually stick with one per day; it’s just easier that way. However, while preparing the Ukraine post, I came across Matthew 25:35 & 36. The verse has stayed with me all day.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
If you are an adoptive parent, your child was a stranger once. You were not born knowing your child. However, before you were born, God ordained that you would meet and adopt your child. He even cared enough to determine just the right time to make it happen.
Today as the third China Hope Project list is made public, I think of how God brings parents and their little stranger together. I know there are several families who met their child today when they opened the list. How did God introduce you to your little stranger? Did you meet her on a mission trip, see him on a website, or did your case manager call you one day with her pictures and a short, tantalizing biography? How did you know he was your child? Did you realize immediately or did it take time to understand what God was trying to tell you?
Many parents wonder about their child’s life before placement; sadly there is so much you may never know. However, it is reassuring to know that even while God was creating the earth, he knew you and your little stranger would come together to form a love called family.
